Day seven was fairly simple. I slept late, then drove to Corvallis to check out Block 15’s two locations. I ate lunch at the downtown spot and tried a kriek. it was a tad sweet but still quite good, but I liked their “porkstrami sandwich”. I then drove to their main brewery location, where I misread and had their new dry cider. I visited a local grocery store for Ice to check for any bottles I missed in California and grabbed some more Russian River items. The local bottle shop selections here have been quite good. From Corvallis, I drove down to Eugene, where Alesong is located. The place was hard to find as it was tucked in this tiny mall off the street, but the guy tending the bar was super nice. I tried the Piquette, which was quite nice. It’s a grisette aged in oak and has notes of pineapple.
Drove back to Portland and stopped in at Beer Mongers shop to again grab a few bottles of breweries that I had missed before stopping in at Double Mountain for a sandwich, a kriek, and a few take-home bottles. Double Mountain was not on my list, but the Kriek was good. However, bottle prices were slightly pricey, even though the vintages were fairly old. Day 8 is mostly a rest day. I have to hit Upright Brewing in town, but that’s about it. Maybe I will hit another bottle shop or two.
