Tilquin – 9 Pack Meerts

Just a quick blurb on this nice pack from Tilquin. I have tried Meerts before but never really knew what it was all about. On my quest for some nice 375s to drink on a more daily basis I decided to give this a try. They are kind of hit or miss with some a bit more vinegary than one might like. The grape ones seem to be a bit more balanced than the fruited ones. Meerts is a kind of weaker form of lambic made from rerunning the fruit used to produce lambic to produce a weaker type of wort. The Meerts is then blended 80-20 with 2 year old lambics and fermented in the bottles. the jury is still out on these with me, but I have been enjoying one almost daily with my dinner. So far, the Mirabelle and the Pinot Gris have been the stars of this pack. if you can get this for around $75 go for it but otherwise you may be better off grabbing three big bottles of something more interesting. It’s the serving size here that saves the day.
