It’s been a while since I posted anything but this is one of the recent items that really stood out. I visited the brewery on my trip to Brussels last year and enjoyed a nice flight of sours. Had I known this one was going to be so tasty I would have brought a bottle or two home but a nice order from Etre Gourmet set that problem right. This is a mixed-fermentation saison, lambic, with rhubarb.
The beer itself is medium-bodied with little carbonation, cloudy in appearance, and a fair amount of sediment with hints of citrus, apple, and rhubarb on the nose with a touch of funk. The taste gives you a decent amount of lemon and grapefruit with a nice amount of rhubarb on the way down. Overall it’s quite well balanced. Not overly acidic, with a touch of sweetness as well as a gentle bitterness. I would definitely put one of these in my next order along with some other rhubarb beers as they are something that really seems to hit the spot.
