I left the Hudson Valley just in time before some significant flooding. I took a drive down Interstate 91 on my way to Suarez Family Brewing. On the recommendation of my brother In law, I managed to sneak in a quick stop at Hermit Thrush in Brattleborough to grab some random bottles before heading over to New York State. The rest of the day is mostly popping in for a quick taste and grabbing some bottles to ensure I get to The Referend in time. The next stop was Suarez, where I grabbed a quick sample of a wild ale she was pouring, picked out some cans and bottles, and headed over to Plan Bee to do the same. Plan Bee was tucked back in the woods on a beautiful home farm with a live musician entertaining the crowd. I tasted the Rose Hill with strawberry and peach which really hit the spot, and took my bottles home. I decided to skip a couple of places to keep on track and get myself to Pennsylvania and The Referend Bier Blendery.
The Referend was a place I had really tried to fit into my schedule. There is a killer bottle list there, and picking something out for a taste was a tough task. I started with the Krak! 2019 which is a spontaneous golden ale fermented on Montmorency cherries and aged in Oak. I followed that up with America’s Plutonic Ecstacies, which is a dry-hopped spontaneous pale ale. Lots of barnyard and citrus. I grabbed a good selection of take-home bottles before heading out, and that pretty much wrapped up my Eastern Beer tour. i nixed my last stop to take an insanely long drive and get home a day early so I could relax before the West Coast trip. Not a lot of photos from this day as I left my camera in the car. Now I have way more bottles than I anticipate in my living room and I have to figure out a way to store them properly. I also brought back way too many cans for my fridges. Gonna have my work cut out for me when I get back from the West Coast.
